Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy
St. Augustine Preparatory School is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment where minors are respected, cared for, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy is not intended to be overly prescriptive regarding interactions between teachers and students. However, it is essential that the guidelines be formal, clear, and expressed in language that is widely understood and aligned with standards set by other institutions and regulatory bodies dedicated to the welfare of minors. We trust that all individuals will exercise sound judgment in applying these guidelines.
Additionally, having a common set of expectations protect adults interacting with minors from invalid reports of inappropriate behavior. By implementing these guidelines, an adult’s interaction with a child becomes much more transparent to others and less likely to be misinterpreted. Adults, including employees and volunteers, assume the full responsibility of setting and maintaining clear, appropriate boundaries in all interactions with minors.
Our administrators have been trained in safety and safeguarding guidelines by the Principals Training Center and AAIE (Association for the Advancement of International Education). Our child protection committee trains teachers, volunteers, and employees annually, and an annual mandatory commitment is signed to ensure proper training has been given to all community members.
