Middle School

6th-8th Grade

St. Augustine Preparatory School provides students in grades 6-8 with a rigorous middle school experience built on the foundation of the Core Knowledge Sequence, which continues to shape and inform our academic approach. The content-rich, cumulative curriculum prepares students for high school and readies them for more advanced academics and the beginning of the college admissions process.

In Language Arts, students develop strong reading, writing, and analytical skills by studying a variety of literature, including novels, poetry, and non-fiction, while focusing on grammar and vocabulary. The Mathematics curriculum builds a strong foundation in grade 6th math, pre algebra, and algebra, emphasizing problem-solving and critical thinking. In Science, students explore topics such as life science, physical science, and earth science, engaging in hands-on experiments and inquiry-based learning to foster scientific reasoning.

Students transition into a more personalized schedule where they are able to take electives and join interest clubs. Exploration Time morphs into Community Time - a daily block in our students’ schedule that allows for Weekly Mass, Advisory (Secondary School version of Pod Meetings), Study Hall, and Interest Club meetings.

Students in 7th grade and above may study French as a third language. The school employs one full-time teacher to support our Foreign Language Program and guide students from 7th-grade French to the AP French Language and Culture course.
